Support Staff Council
The Staff of the University of Rostock has a solidarity declaration drafted and Dr.-Ing. Carsten Liesenberg (as agent), this just read in the main auditorium.
"The staff councils declare their solidarity with the protest of students at the University of Rostock
emphatically support the missions of the staff of the University of Rostock protests of students from our and other universities and colleges to the structural deficiencies in the education system, the shortcomings in the implementation of the objectives of the Bologna process and unfair trials, teaching and research conditions that afflict students and staff.
Together with the students we demand a powerful, critical reflection and empowering the public welfare-oriented education system with no social barriers. Study, teaching and research need to self-determined and free from the pressure of economic interests. Shortcomings and failures in the study and working conditions at the university are to be corrected promptly and effectively improve.
But higher public spending on education is needed. The financial and human resources of our university has to be passed out from lack of management. We ask the government not just pretty words, but a significant increase in resources, not least for student scholarships. The state government must finally perceive that even the current staffing for adequate teaching and research is inadequate.
Together with the students we demand an immediate revision of the current study and examination regulations, involving staff and students equally.
We appreciate the appropriate form of protest by the students and the dialogue and the University administration of the faculties. Together we want to promote understanding of our legitimate demands of the population and in politics.
